WordSmith Studios began in 2016 as Grace Street Writing & Editing, a small boutique firm dedicated to helping storytellers refine their work. As our founder saw the deeper challenges creatives faced, it evolved into The WordSmith Writer’s Lab, providing writers with the tools to develop compelling stories. But great scripts weren’t enough.
Stories Need to Be Seen, Not Just Written
To bridge that gap, we created Flip The Script Film Fellowship, a rapid film development model that transformed scripts into movies. That breakthrough laid the foundation for WordSmith Studios, where storytelling goes beyond the page and into full-scale production, storyteller mentorship, and career-building opportunities.

WordSmith Studios exists to eliminate the barriers that keep talented storytellers from thriving in the film industry. Founded in 2017 by Eunice Smith-Shelley, our mission is clear:

The driving force behind WordSmith Studios, Eunice Smith-Shelley is a filmmaker, producer, and strategist who knows success isn’t about luck—it’s about skill, strategy, and execution.
She’s been called a storm-chaser, but really, she’s a girl from a small Chicago suburb who refused to wait for permission.
With 20+ years in corporate leadership, she mastered process engineering, Lean Six Sigma, and business strategy—then took those skills into filmmaking, creating structured frameworks and impactful programs that help storytellers turn ideas into industry-shaping work.
